Frequently Asked Questions

School starts for all students at 8:00 a.m.
PK3 students dismiss at 11:00 a.m.
PK4-5th grades dismiss at 2:10 p.m.
6th-12th grades dismiss at 2:30 p.m.

Morning temperature checks begin each morning at 7:40 a.m. at which time students may go to their classroom. We also have early morning drop-off available for PK3-5th grades beginning each day at 7:15 a.m. There is a $5.00 per day per student fee for early drop-off.

Early morning drop-off is available for students in PK3-5th grade and runs from 7:15-7:40 a.m. in the  Lower School Library. There is a $5.00 per day per student fee for this service.

Afterschool care is available for PK3 students beginning at 11:00 a.m. and for PK4 through fifth  graders beginning at 2:10 each day and ends at 6:00 p.m. PK3 afterschool care costs $80.00 per  week per child and PK4 through fifth grade costs $75 per week per child. PK3 and PK4 students are to be dropped off at the front of the Preschool building. KG students are to be dropped off at the Kindergarten building. 

1st-5th graders are to be dropped off at the front of the Lower School building. Middle and High School students can be dropped off on the sidewalk between the Lower School  building and the gym or in the back parking lot between the Upper School building and the  Cafeteria.

PK3 and PK4 students are to be picked up at the Preschool building. 

KG-5th graders are to be picked up in the carpool line at the Lower School building. Middle and High School students are to be picked up in the back parking lot behind the High School  building.

Lunches are available for purchase through RenWeb, our Parent Portal. Lunches must be ordered  ahead of time by the date specified on the Lunch section of RenWeb. TSA outsources our lunches  from area restaurants such as DeMara’s, Sonic, Chick-fil-a, Arby’s, and Domino’s. Students may also  bring their lunches and we do provide microwaves for heating lunches.

TSA offers education for students in PK3 through twelfth grade.

Transportation is available for a monthly fee of $80 per student. We have buses that drop off and  pick up in Sumter County, Southeast Richland County and Kershaw County. Our buses have  designated stops and do not make individual house stops

We do not require student to wear uniforms but do have a dress code for students, which is  available in our Parent Student Handbook. 

You have four options for payment – full pay, semester pay, quarterly pay or monthly pay. You will  receive a billing statement each month (semester or quarter) and can pay tuition on-line at  www.thomassumter.org with a debit or credit card. There is a bank fee for all credit and debit payments. You can pay by check and mail it to the school at TSA · 5265 Camden Highway ·  Rembert, SC 29128. You may also pay with cash or check directly to the Business Office at the  school. Any questions you have about student billing can be handled through the Business Office.

TSA uses textbooks and workbooks in the classes. Textbooks and workbooks are covered under  tuition for students up through fifth grade. Middle and High School students must purchase their  textbooks and workbooks. Some textbooks are available through the Admissions Office, sold on  consignment by parents. Workbooks must be purchased new; no used workbooks will be allowed.  Digital textbooks are available through the IT Department and Admissions Office for students in  Middle and High School once they purchase the actual textbook.

Students in 5th – 12th grades are required to have a digital device for use in the classroom.  

Students please be aware that the PSAT, SAT, and other standardized tests are now fully online tests. These tests were not designed to be taken on a Chromebook. With that in mind, we encourage all parents to purchase an Apple iPad with a keyboard or a laptop that runs Windows.

TSA does have Wi-Fi and security firewalls for our student’s protection.

Thomas Sumter Academy is fully accredited through AdvancED and SACS. TSA goes through the  reaccreditation process every five years.

Thomas Sumter Academy is a Christ-centered school. Although we are not affiliated with any denomination, God is the center of who we are and what we do. We provide chapel once a week to our students in the first through fifth grades in the auditorium. We provide chapel once a month for our Middle and High School students in the gym. We also have morning prayer and devotions as well as the Pledge of Allegiance in homeroom each day for our PK3 – twelfth-grade students.
