PE Teacher
The ideal candidate has:
- Have an Associate’s degree or above in the content area.
- South Carolina certification not required.
- Clear BCI/FBI Background check
Description: A PE Teacher, or Physical Education Teacher is responsible for teaching physical education and sports to school children. Their duties include planning and leading PE lessons, getting students to compete in sporting events and evaluating their performance.Teacher Certification is not mandatory as long as the teacher has the requisite degree/experience in the assigned field.
Reports to: Athletic Director/Division Head then Head of School
- Each full time teacher will teach a maximum of five classes as assigned by the Guidance Counselor and Head of School. Instruction in the classroom will be commensurate with the school’s stated philosophy, objectives and purpose.
- Each teacher is responsible for their course description in accordance with the Curriculum Guide.
- Each teacher is responsible for their individual curriculum mapping and lesson plans.
- Each teacher will serve as an advocate for their students. He/She will be an advocate for the student and provide the required feedback to the parents to ensure maximization of student potential.
- Each teacher will supervise and discipline students in all areas of contact. The faculty is expected to be cognizant of all rules and regulations that govern the school and are in accordance with the prescribed classroom management guidelines per the Parent/Student Handbook.
- Each teacher must participate in professional development activities as provided and are highly recommended to participate where they can.
- Teachers may be assigned other duties as deemed necessary for the efficient operation of Thomas Sumter Academy as determined by the administration of the school.
- Teachers will serve as a role model for all students for ethical, moral and Christian values espoused by the Thomas Sumter Academy mission, purpose, strategic vision, and core values.
- PE Teachers are responsible for advancing their students’ physical ability and knowledge of sports.
- PE teachers are responsible for the welfare of their students and for ensuring that students can gain the qualifications they need to advance their education or their desired career paths after school.

FT High School Chemistry/Physics Science Teacher
Thomas Sumter Academy seeks a highly qualified high school science teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong high school science background including chemistry and anatomy and physiology.
The ideal candidate has:
- Teaching experience with Gr. 9-12 in the areas of Chemistry, and/ Anatomy and Physiology
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent instructional delivery and the ability to create a positive, engaging, and interactive learning experience for all TSA students.
- Science undergraduate (or higher) degree is required, preferably in respective areas of concentration
- State licensure (preferred but not required)
- Interest in collaborating with others in a STEAM environment
- Experience using Promethean Boards and/or other classroom technology
- The ability to plan and prepare lessons that are engaging and interactive
- The ability to effectively evaluate student performance and provide necessary feedback to ensure each student is maximizing their potential
