Part Time After School Care Provider – Thomas Sumter Academy

Thomas Sumter Academy is looking for additional part-time after school assistants

The ideal candidate has:

  • Job related experience
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong speaking, writing, organization, and classroom management skills

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring after-school activities with the purpose of educating and engaging children
  • Organizing and monitoring appropriate activities (e.g. games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, washing hands, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing play and academic concepts.
  • Dismissing children to parents, guardians, or designee for the purpose of ensuring safety and meeting established custodial guidelines.
  • Greeting and communicating with parents daily (e.g. incident reports, attendance, etc.) for the purpose of conveying information and/or receiving information appropriate to students.

FT After Care Coordinator

Job Title: After Care Coordinator

Qualifications:          

  1. Requirements per DSS regulations.
  2. Espouse the TSA ethos

Description: The After Care Coordinator is responsible for the proper running of the TSA Enrichment Program which includes the After Care program. 

Report to: Head of School

Duties and Responsibilities: The following is required but not limited to.

  1. Communicate with the Division Head/Head of School the happenings in the classroom for our After Care program.
  2. Communicate with parents regarding the welfare of the children as necessary.
  3. Communicate with teachers in the classroom and with all other employees of the school.
  4. Ensure the After Care program is effectively manned by qualified people.
  5. Take the lead in ensuring all DSS certifications are properly maintained and up-to-date.
  6. Ensure all facets of the program are properly maintained in accordance with DHEC/DSS regulations. 
  7. Participate in appropriate training experiences and staff meetings. 
  8. Supervise other teachers who work in the class.
  9. Ensure proper documentation of all disciplinary and behavioral problems using incident reports and journal entries as needed.
  10. Good attendance records are required, including limited tardiness.
  11. Take special precautions in checking that the proper person is picking up the child at the end of the day; bring children left late to the appropriate place.
  12. Espouse the TSA ethos.
  13. Ensure conferences are provided with parents twice a year.

FT  Spanish Teacher

The ideal candidate has:

  1. Teaching experience with Gr. 6-12 in the Spanish Language
  2. Strong classroom management skills
  3. Strong curriculum knowledge
  4. Excellent instructional delivery
  5. Spanish Degree/Native Speaker of the Spanish Language
  6. State licensure (preferred but not required)
  7. Understanding of all policies and procedures enforced by Thomas Sumter Academy – exhibit the TSA ethos
  8. Interest in collaborating with others
  9. Experience using smart boards and other classroom technology
  10. Recommendations to provide upon request

pK Faculty Member/Teacher

Job Title:  pK Teacher

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma is a minimum requirement; Associates or higher in Early Childhood preferred.
  2. Clear DSS and Central Registry requirements.
  3. Clear BCI/FBI Background check
  4. Espouses the TSA ethos

Description: Each pK faculty member must meet all certifications before being allowed in the pK classroom. 

Reports to: pK3 – K5 Division Head then Head of School

Duties and Responsibilities: The following are the duties and responsibilities of each teacher:

  1. Instruction in the classroom will be commensurate with the school’s stated philosophy, objectives and purpose.
  2. Provide a nurturing learning environment for each student.
  3. Each teacher is responsible for their course description in accordance with the Curriculum Guide.
  4. Each teacher is responsible for their individual curriculum, curriculum mapping and lesson plans.
  5. Each teacher will serve as an advocate for their students. He/She will be an advocate for the student and provide the required feedback to the parents to ensure maximization of student potential.
  6. Each teacher will supervise and discipline students in all areas of contact.  The faculty is expected to be cognizant of all rules and regulations that govern the school and are in accordance with the prescribed classroom management guidelines per the Parent/Student Handbook.
  7. Each teacher must participate in professional development activities as provided and are highly recommended to participate where they can by being a Club or Activity advisor/facilitator.
  8. Teachers may be assigned other duties as deemed necessary for the efficient operation of Thomas Sumter Academy as determined by the administration of the school.
  9. Teachers will serve as a role model for all students for ethical, moral and Christian values espoused by the Thomas Sumter Academy mission, purpose, strategic vision, and core values.
