After Care Assistant

Qualifications:

Description: The After Care Assistant is responsible to the Assistant After Care Coordinator and After Care Coordinator for the proper running of the TSA Enrichment Program which includes the After Care program.

Report to: Assistant After Care Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities: The following is required but not limited to.

  • Communicate with parents regarding the welfare of the children as necessary.
  • Communicate with teachers in the classroom as necessary.
  • Assist the After Care Coordinator in ensuring the After Care program is effectively manned by qualified people.
  • Participate in appropriate training experiences.
  • Take special precautions in checking that the proper person is picking up the child at the end of the day; bring children left late to the appropriate place.
  • Ensure conferences are provided with parents twice a year.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the After Care Coordinator.

FT  Spanish Teacher

The ideal candidate has:

    • Teaching experience with Gr. 6-12 in the Spanish Language
    • Strong classroom management skills
    • Strong curriculum knowledge
    • Excellent instructional delivery
    • Spanish Degree/Native Speaker of the Spanish Language
    • State licensure (preferred but not required)
    • Understanding of all policies and procedures enforced by Thomas Sumter Academy – exhibit the TSA ethos
    • Interest in collaborating with others
    • Experience using smart boards and other classroom technology
    • Recommendations to provide upon request

FT  Middle School (6-8) English Language Arts Teacher

The ideal candidate has:

    • English undergraduate (or higher) degree
    • State licensure (preferred but not required)
    • Interest in collaborating with others

PE Teacher

The ideal candidate has:

  1. Have an Associate’s degree or above in the content area.
  2. South Carolina certification  not required.
  3. Clear BCI/FBI Background check
  4. Espouses the TSA ethos

Description: A PE Teacher, or Physical Education Teacher is responsible for teaching physical education and sports to school children. Their duties include planning and leading PE lessons, getting students to compete in sporting events and evaluating their performance.Teacher Certification is not mandatory as long as the teacher has the requisite degree/experience in the assigned field.

Reports to: Athletic Director/Division Head then Head of School

  • Each full time teacher will teach a maximum of five classes as assigned by the Guidance Counselor and Head of School.  Instruction in the classroom will be commensurate with the school’s stated philosophy, objectives and purpose.
  • Each teacher is responsible for their course description in accordance with the Curriculum Guide.
  • Each teacher is responsible for their individual curriculum mapping and lesson plans.
  • Each teacher will serve as an advocate for their students. He/She will be an advocate for the student and provide the required feedback to the parents to ensure maximization of student potential.
  • Each teacher will supervise and discipline students in all areas of contact.  The faculty is expected to be cognizant of all rules and regulations that govern the school and are in accordance with the prescribed classroom management guidelines per the Parent/Student Handbook.
  • Each teacher must participate in professional development activities as provided and are highly recommended to participate where they can.
  • Teachers may be assigned other duties as deemed necessary for the efficient operation of Thomas Sumter Academy as determined by the administration of the school.
  • Teachers will serve as a role model for all students for ethical, moral and Christian values espoused by the Thomas Sumter Academy mission, purpose, strategic vision, and core values.
  • PE Teachers are responsible for advancing their students’ physical ability and knowledge of sports.
  • PE teachers are responsible for the welfare of their students and for ensuring that students can gain the qualifications they need to advance their education or their desired career paths after school.
