Academics Overview

It is the philosophy of Thomas Sumter Academy that the education of a child is a partnership involving the school, parent, and the child. We strive to educate the whole child and emphasize academic, spiritual, emotional, and physical growth.

We work to bring out the best in each student. A child may need the added assistance of the Academic Center to fine tune learning skills or meet the requirements different learning styles. Athletes and gifted students may need the school’s support for extra time outside of school for practice or competitions. We may be working with students who are coming to us from as far away as the Czech Republic or as close as the local public school who have issues with block scheduling.

Thomas Sumter Academy strives to work within the partnership by applying Christian principles to our philosophy and within an atmosphere of family love and support of our individual children.

“Dear Eddy,
TSA welcomed our family with open arms in the Fall of 2007, and treated us like family. Three of our four children graduated from TSA: Daniel (2010), Hannah (2015), and Becca (2016). We are grateful and feel very blessed that they received an outstanding education, character development, participation in athletics and clubs at TSA. Oh, we have such fond memories made at TSA with our TSA families!

Denise Campbell had a significant impact on our son’s success at TSA and ultimately in life (always had an open door , listening ear, and provided great advice/guidance both academically and personally). Daniel graduated from TSA and attended/graduated from Presbyterian College on a full ROTC scholarship; he is currently in the US Army as a 1st LT just returning from a deployment from Afghanistan. We truly believe if he had not attended TSA his path in life probably would have been drastically different. I thought I would share that with you, because you only knew our girls…who are both doing awesome in school. Both girls got a 4.0 last semester. Hannah at King’s College (in PA) pursuing a BS/MS as a Physician Assistant. She says Mrs. Hill’s Science chemistry class laid a great foundation for her college courses. Becca is at Clemson pursuing a BS in Business Management in Human Resources. The dual enrollment courses offered at TSA will allow Becca to graduate a year early!

Wishing Much success to the Green to Gold Campaign. Go Generals! ”
