Winter/Spring Sports

Basketball

The excitement and electricity of General Basketball tips off in late November. Opportunities for Junior High, JV, and Varsity levels for boys and girls in grades 6th-12th are available. With lots of hard work, responsibility, and discipline, Basketball is an enjoyable and successful venture for participants and spectators alike.

Sporting Clays Shooting Team

men and women in grades 7th-12th. Shooters compete in squads of three and competitions are held once a month on Saturdays. The season begins in December and runs through May.

Baseball

In the brisk days of January, baseball for B-Team , JV, and Varsity begins at TSA. With more than 18 games scheduled from early March through May, boys in grades 6th-12th are encouraged to participate. With one of the finest fields in the area and positive attitudes towards the game, baseball draws a large fan base.

Girls Softball

In the Spring comes an opportunity for the young ladies in grades 6th-12th to participate in TSA's very successful Softball program. One of our long-standing and most successful sports, students can participate from B-Team through Varsity as skills improve.

Golf

Golf starts at TSA in the Spring of each year. Home matches are played at one of the finer courses in the area, Beech Creek Golf Course, located in Sumter County's historic Stateburg area. Starting in 5th Grade, both male and female students are encouraged to compete.

Co-educational Soccer

The fast-paced and exciting game of Soccer is enjoyed by many TSA students. Spring Soccer is offered for boys and girls in grades 7th-12th. The season begins in February and ends the first week of May and has a full schedule of games and practices. The Co-educational Soccer Team won the State Championship in 2006.

Boys and Girls Track

A Track program is available to girls and boys in grades 5th-12th. Each year students explore their opportunities in the various events open for competition. Students practice at the stadium located across the road from Thomas Sumter Academy. Competition takes the team to various locations around the Midlands.
