Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits every year (including college courses) in order to receive a Thomas Sumter Academy high school diploma.

Notes:

  1. Students who took English I as an 8th Grader and earned an 85 or above will receive an English 1 High School credit and will take English II in their Freshman year.
  2. Students who took Algebra as an 8th Grader and earned an 85 or above will receive an Algebra 1 High School credit and will take Geometry in their Freshman year.
  3. Thomas Sumter Academy can provide additional languages to include Arabic, German, and French on an individual basis.
  4. Computer Applications is a required elective for a Thomas Sumter Academy Diploma.
  5. To receive a Thomas Sumter Academy Diploma, a student must earn at least six units of Electives.
  6. In accordance with South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale (SCUGS), Thomas Sumter uses the Carnegie units. Additionally, Thomas Sumter is on the 10-point grading scale per SCUGS.
  7. Courses in red and italicized are Dual Enrollment Courses offered through local college which TSA has partnered with to maximize the academic rigor offered by Thomas Sumter. The course offerings are determined each semester by the local college. CCTC dual enrollment link here.
  8. Not all courses are offered each school year. The determination will be course demand and faculty/staff availability.
  9. Thomas Sumter Academy will only allow up to 30 College Credit hours to be included on the transcript. All courses taken must have prior approval from the Guidance Counselor before a student can register for a course.
  10. Beginning with the Class of 2027, which will be the 7th grade class in 21-22, the minimum number of credits needed for graduation will be 25. This will include a required credit in Bible or World Religions.
