Special Note: With the signing of the Tax Cutes and Jobs Act in December 2017, the definition of qualifying expenses has been expanded to include tuition at elementary and secondary schools (up to $10,000 per year per student).  This means that a parent may now use their 529 Plan to pay for private school for their K-12 children. It is extremely important, however, to consult with your tax professional and your investment advisor about all the risks and benefits.

Payment Options

Full Payment Plan

Full tuition is paid by July 1 or at the time of signing the contract.

Semester Payment Plan

Half of the total tuition is paid by July 1 or at the time of signing the contract and the remainder paid no later than January 1.

Monthly Payment Plan

The first tuition installment is paid by July 1 and the remaining 11 payments are due by the 15th of each month.

Fees

Enrollment Fee

When a student is offered a contract, the enrollment fee is $250.00 per student for the first student and $50 for each additional student in the same family (maximum of $300). Payment is rendered at the time of signing the contract. The application fee will be deducted from the enrollment fee upon completion of the enrollment contract.

Re-Enrollment

Returning students pay a $200 family re-enrollment fee.

Dual Enrollment Classes

There is an additional charge per class for courses where students also earn college credit from Central Carolina Technical College. Charge is determined by tuition rates at the college. A $150.00 fee per class per child enrolled in a CCTC class will be charged. Students dropping a CCTC course after the end of the drop/add period will be required to reimburse the school for the full college tuition paid on their behalf.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Thomas Sumter Academy offers financial assistance for qualifying families. We partner with an external evaluation company, the SSS Corporation of Princeton, to make determinations. You may file online at sss.nais.org Consideration will be given after a family has filed financial aid information with the SSS Corporation and a final evaluation is received. There is also a 2% Sibling Discount available for families.
